What I’ve Done

WHY I DO, WHAT I DO

Rarely does a quote have an impact on me the way Steve Jobs’ did when he said, “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.” It was this quote, and the fact that my dad changed careers about the same age, that drove my desire to do something different besides being an educator. One of my favorite things as a teacher was helping students design websites and keeping up with all of the new methods and strategies that the web had to offer. By being involved with social media and web design, I am able to fulfill those desires. My business lets me help other businesses develop social media strategies that impact customer loyalty as well as the bottom line. I may have a degree in Business Finance, but my true passion is technology. While teaching computer science, I found that my best pupil was myself. When I taught my students about web development, design and Web 2.0 my own enthusiasm for those subjects was boundless.

SOCIAL MEDIA PROJECTS

St. Paul Lutheran School

St. Paul was a very unique opportunity for us. They were wanting to develop an online community that not only informed students and parents about school events and information, but also encouraged social community engagement and participation. We currently assist St. Paul with their content, as well as, social community management. The school is also utilizing Twitter’s text feature as their school message system where parents and students can receive text alerts about school information, such as, school plays, sporting events and cancellations.

US Tool Group

We are very excited to assist US Tool Group with our services. They were looking for a way to develop an Internet identity by utilizing various social media communities. We were thrilled to take on this challenge, as US TOOL GROUP is not your typical company. Right now, we are assisting US Tool in sharing relevant and interesting industry information; creating, sharing and monitoring content on multiple platforms, as well as, developing a social media campaign that will have an impact on other business operations.

KIND Soap Company

When we visited KIND Soap Company, their goals for utilizing social media were clear; they wanted to increase clientele, as well as, the bottom line, customer loyalty and brand exposure. We consulted KIND on the essential social communities to use for their goals and helped get these platforms in place. During our consultation on social media management, we shared ideas on how to engage current and potential clients, develop KIND’s Internet personality and explained the impact of social on other business operations.

Memorial Streams and Timeless Tributes

Memorial Streams understands the importance of social media, and were in dire need of assistance. They came to Socially Acceptable with a Facebook Profile and not a Facebook Page, so we knew we had our hands full with this client. However, we were able to use Facebook’s Profile converter for the first time – and it was an excellent resource. We developed a Twitter Account and LinkedIn Page for the company, as well as, integrated Twitter updates into LinkedIn. We are currently assisting Memorial Streams and Timeless Tributes with their social media campaigns.

Midcom Technologies

Midcom Technologies believes that it is their business to know how technology can work for your business – we are taking that same approach with social media for them. Midcom Technologies has never used any social media platform…ever, in fact, we are starting from scratch, no followers or fans. This is going to be a great challenge for Socially Acceptable, as we have created accounts on all three major social networks. We are very excited to help build Midcom’s customer loyalty, as well as, aid in the increase in their current customer-base.

SPEAKING EVENTS AND PRESENTATIONS

I have been asked to speak at a number of different events about social media and digital marketing. I enjoy the delivering the presentations immensely, and have shared the presentation that I have used on a number of different occassions.

WEB DESIGN PROJECTS

These are some of my most recent designs since adding web design to my company’s services. As a former web design teacher, I loved designing websites with my students. However, I stepped away from one of the most enjoyable hobbies I’ve ever had for a couple of years. I am happy to say that I have started designing sites again on a regular basis. There are a number of things I enjoy about web design, but the creativity and code development are my favorite. Here are some development tools and code languages that I use:
  • Adobe Dreamweaver
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • HTML, HTML 5, CSS, PHP, JavaScript and jQuery
  • WordPress and Joomla (Only when requested for Joomla sites.)

See My Work

Here is a small sample of some websites I have designed. Most are on a CMS platform, so some designs have been altered by the user.
